Texas Data Privacy and Security Act Takes Effect (July 1, 2024)
- Effective July 1, 2024, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) gives Texas consumers privacy rights with respect to their personal data and establishes certain requirements and limitations for covered businesses.
- The TDPSA’s protections do not apply to individuals acting in an employment context or to employment-related data.
Texas Prohibits COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates (February 6, 2024)
- Effective February 6, 2024, Texas prohibits employers from adopting or enforcing a mandate requiring an employee, applicant or current or prospective contractor to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment or a contract position.
- The law also prohibits employers from taking adverse actions against such individuals for their refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Texas Clarifies Requirements for Workplace Violence Poster (January 8, 2024)
- Effective January 8, 2024, a Texas rule clarifies the mandated form and contents of the workplace violence poster required to be posted by employers to implement the Safety At Work program.
- Employers must post a notice in both English and Spanish. You can download a poster with the required content from the Texas DOL’s website here.
